Psychedelic Integration
Psychedelic Integration Therapy is possibly the most important part of the journey. Whether your psychedelic journey was guided or solo - integration helps you process the experience and make the change lasting.
What is Psychedelic Integration?
Dr. Ryan Phillips describes integration like this: "Psychedelics open a door, it's our task to step through and then to explore the new terrain beyond." That new terrain is what we discover during integration. Your experience might be very clear, with messages of support and change. Integration is your chance to make those changes stick and explore what's needed in your day-to-day life in order to live it differently.
Your journey could also be difficult, confusing or emotionally intense. When the experience isn't clear, integration will help you make sense, interpret and incorporate everything you can potentially learn from the journey. Integration is also potentially the difference between a traumatic experience and a meaningful one. Aleya Littleton, clinical facilitator, recalls: "One of my clients felt a great deal of shame after their journey. It was through integration we discovered that this journey was exactly what they needed. The shame was resolved and they found a new lease on life."
While the state requires only one integration session, we've found that integration can last several months after the experience. It's important to have a therapist to consistently work with after your journey. Transcendent's format includes two sessions, but makes space for more if needed. If you don't have a personal therapist to work with, please discuss ongoing support during your discovery call.
