Psilocybin Assisted Therapy

Is this the right choice for you?

What is psychedelic assisted therapy?

Psychedelic assisted therapy is the intentional use of medicine to achieve an altered state of consciousness, to "get out of our own way" and create lasting change. The research on psilocybin-assisted therapy has been genuinely encouraging, especially for people who haven't found relief through traditional treatments. Clinical trials are showing that many participants experience significant reductions in depression - often with benefits that last well beyond the session itself, continuing at six months, a year, and sometimes longer. Studies from places like Johns Hopkins and Imperial College London have also found meaningful improvements for people facing end-of-life anxiety, with participants reporting a shift in how they relate to their fear and mortality. These aren't just temporary mood boosts - people describe lasting changes in perspective and emotional wellbeing.

What makes psilocybin-assisted therapy different from simply taking medication is that the experience itself matters. The medicine opens a window, but what happens during that window - and how it's processed afterward with a therapist - is where the real healing occurs. Brain imaging studies suggest psilocybin may help create new neural pathways and prune old ones, essentially allowing people to step outside of stuck patterns and see things differently. But outcomes depend heavily on the therapeutic container, which is why it's so important to choose a therapist and location that you can trust. The preparation, the safety of the setting, the skill of the facilitator, and the integration work afterward all shape whether someone has a transformative experience or just a confusing one. This is therapy enhanced by medicine, not medicine that works on its own.

Psychedelic healing journeys are offered to individuals and groups, however we recognize that group work isn't a fit for everyone. Individual psychedelic assisted therapy allows for one-on-one time with your facilitator, the privacy of being the only client in treatment, and a highly customized journey experience.

Those who often choose individual treatment include:

  • Clients new to psychedelics and altered states of consciousness.

  • Clients coming in for trauma treatment.

  • Clients traveling from out of state for treatment.

So what does an individual journey look like?

Your preparation sessions will be held in person or via telehealth at your convenience. You may find that our minimum of 2 preparation sessions is perfect for you and your therapist, or you may want or need to schedule more. Once you are ready, the date for your journey is chosen. Your treatment plan may recommend a single journey or multiple, depending on your primary concerns. During the journey, we will work with you to customize the music, lighting, smell and comfort items for the space. After the journey, a minimum of 2 integration sessions will focus on your singular experience and how to create lasting change in your life.

We offer psilocybin and ketamine assisted therapy to individual clients, and psilocybin to groups. Ketamine treatment is currently managed by our partner, Neurogrove. Neurogrove is located in the same suite of offices as the Transcend healing center, and collaborates with us often for the holistic treatment of our clients.
